Description

This is an introductory course in statistics and research methods, in which the student learns to apply fundamental statistical techniques to real world problems and to interpret the results. The statistics component is divided into three major parts: descriptive statistics, probability and inferential statistics. For the “research methods” component of the course, the student is expected to identify a suitable project (under the guidance of the instructor) and to collect, interpret and analyze related data using appropriate research procedures. At the end of the semester, the student is expected to submit a research-style paper, which summarizes his/her analysis, interpretation and list of references.
