The critical role of communication in the human services field will be discussed. The components of effective communication and the role of the audience will be highlighted. Students will have the opportunity to discuss their personal communication style and identify strengths and barriers. A personal plan of action that supports the students’ individual needs for development will be created. Students will engage in a variety of in-class experiences that will facilitate skill development.
