Description
This course gives the student a hands-on opportunity to make a survey of pathogenic bacteria, fungi and other parasites with emphasis on those of concern in the medical, industrial and environmental settings. Students will explore the characteristics of these pathogens, how they cause disease and how they are transmitted. Students will use key characteristics to identify these pathogens in an efficient and systematic manner. In the laboratory, the students will handle, isolate and identify potential pathogens and other microorganisms.
