Description:

The purpose of the course is to prepare students to become professional performers that meet and exceed audience expectations. From the perspective of an “indie” musician, students will learn how to perform that is in line with contemporary standards of excellence and entertainment. This course is deeply rooted in the foundations of "experiential learning," accordingly, students will form groups and participate in 8 in-class performances with each performance worth 10% of their final mark (for a total of 80% of their final mark). The student's final performance will take place at the end of the term with their designated ensemble. In this final performance at a public venue, students will be marked accordingly to how they utilized everything they had learned in class and how they applied it to the "real world" performance of the stage for a total of 20% of their final mark.
