Description | Building on the concepts learned in The Business of Production 1, this course focuses on how a producer uses knowledge of the industry to both develop and sell viable project ideas and successfully avoid the pitfalls of the production process. Students will also consider what makes a “good” story, and how to read a script and pitch with a focus on what might be successful in the marketplace. Topics also include the growing importance of cross-platform and new technologies and the impact of Canadian communications policy on the industry. Students will examine industry case studies and, with a focus on marketing principles and strategic planning, create a full project pitch and implementation plan. This course will also consider how to maintain and grow a business after production wrap and delivery. |
