| Description | Students will develop an understanding of developmentally appropriate curriculum for infants and toddlers. Emphasis will be placed on creating responsive environments for infants and toddlers. Students will gain insight into the characteristics of quality environments for young children. The principles of creating a prepared environment that support the development of the whole child, while being responsive to the developmental needs and interests of the children, will be explored. Observations of infants and toddlers will serve as the foundation for creating appropriate experiences. Students will gain skills in creating experiences based on developmental cues and emergent curriculum principles. Indirect guidance strategies will be recognized as an integral component of this content. Students will have the opportunity to discuss related field goals and share curriculum experiences. |
