| Description | The learning environment is celebrated as the “third teacher” because of its significant influence on children’s learning and development. The organization of space optimizes the potential for inquiry and engagement. The physical space is constructed to facilitate children’s development of self regulation and independence. Students will gain insight into the characteristics of quality environments for young children. The components of a prepared environment, which support the development of the whole child while being responsive to the needs and interests of children, will be explored. Principles of reciprocity and relationships will be introduced and Indirect guidance strategies will be recognized as an integral component of this content. |
