Description | A major component of this course is the study of the process of societal devaluation and a social science theory, Social Role Valorization (SRV), which advocates valued roles as a strategy to help people have the good things in life. Social Role Valorization is discussed with a focus on imagery and competency enhancement, and it is presented as an important framework for the work of a DSW graduate. Students will examine and articulate the relationship between personal and societal values, and the life experiences of people with disabilities. In addition, students will explore their own and society’s values. One of the key components of this course is the development of professional and academic skills including the use of academic writing conventions. Course Learning Outcomes:
