Description:

An appropriate value base is a fundamental prerequisite to becoming a Developmental Services Worker. This course will enable the student to begin to explore and develop the values that will govern his or her future roles in the human services field. A major component of this course will be the study of devaluation and oppression on a societal and individual level. Students will be introduced to the theory of Social Role Valorization (formerly Normalization) as a positive conceptual base upon which to consider their own underlying values. Prerequisite to: DSWP122, DSWP123, DSWP126. Course Length: 45 hours: 3 hours per week for 15 weeks. Minimum grade requirement: C
