| Description | This course provides students with an understanding of the emerging technologies of Cloud Computing and Virtualization, their principles of operation, and underlying theories. Students will acquire a strong analytical foundation and the necessary practical knowledge to install, configure and manage virtualization technologies and storage systems. The first part of the course presents a business perspective, technical organization, and management of a virtualized IT environment. Issues regarding the efficient use of power and related environmental concerns are examined. Virtual environment will be implemented using VMware technology. The second part of the course introduces the key concepts and evolution of cloud computing. Students explore from a technical perspective the Cloud Computing terminology, theoretical principles, types, architecture and application of clouds. The infrastructure of cloud computing, technical benefits, and challenges are examined by analyzing service models including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, as well as public and private clouds. Students will be able to identify and select a suitable cloud computing system to meet organizational requirements. |
