| Description | This Wireless Networks course builds upon the theoretical and mathematical knowledge gained from NET 221. It covers the advanced theoretical and practical aspects of designing and configuring wireless networks. Advanced wireless technologies, like digital modulation and coding, spread spectrum systems, OFDM, and MIMO, are studied and applied to Wireless Personal Area Network and Wireless Local Area Network (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax). The course embodies the evolution of wireless networks, standards, WLAN design, WLAN troubleshooting, and protocols. It also explores the evolving role, nature, and impact of wireless networks on everyday life, social and ethical use of technology, and the application to education, health care, and disaster recovery in Canada. Emerging technologies, new research, and application trends in wireless networks in Canada will also be explored. Theory taught in the class is put to use in the lab to enhance practical knowledge in integrating, testing, securing, commissioning, and managing wireless networks. |
