Based on communicative teaching and learning practices, English Language Learning (ELL) Online is an intensive four-level, full-time program designed for international students who wish to improve their English language skills. If you're an international student, this program will help you build on and improve your language skills for success in college, university and your career. Upon completing ELL Level 5, you have a direct pathway into the first college communication course with no additional testing.
- ELL's four levels (Beginner, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, High Intermediate) run each semester.
- You'll be placed into one of the four levels depending on the results of a placement assessment that will ensure you are in the correct language level.
- Each level runs for one semester and is divided into five modules.
- You can start the program at the beginning of any module.
- There are 3 hours each day of live classes with your professor and 5 hours each week of online activities
- Students who take the ELL program will have preferential consideration for Provincial Attestation Letters (PAL) for on campus programs at Centennial College
ELL Online will offer you the opportunity to:
- Interact with students from around the world in your classes;
- Have a direct pathway to college communication courses;
- Develop effective academic communication and critical thinking skills;
- Experience the expectations for study in a Canadian post-secondary environment;
- Participate in communicative activities, interactive exercises, group work and presentations;
- Access helpful resources and services (tutoring services, library, counselling);
- Learn from highly qualified and dedicated English as an Additional Language teaching professionals who provide quality instruction, encouragement and guidance.
The ELL Program is fully accredited by Langaugaes Canada.

English Language Learning (ELL) is designed for International students who wish to upgrade their English skills. If you are an international student and are interested in this program, please contact the Centennial College International Centre.
You cannot apply to this program at Ontariocolleges.ca.
How to Apply
- Download and complete our English Language Learning (ELL) Application Form.
- Please email the completed and signed application form along with scanned copies of your academic transcripts to the designated contact listed on our website for your country of residence.
- Note: If you have taken an English test within the last two years, include a scanned copy. However, prior English proficiency testing is not required for admission to this program.
- Contact your Regional Admissions Team member to check your application status.
- Upon receiving an offer of acceptance, pay your fees to secure a seat in your program.

- Students studying online out of Canada can sign a waiver to adjust the International Student Support Program and Insurance Fees.
- Domestic and international part-time students are charged mandatory health insurance and incidental fees. Incidental fees include student service fee, technology fee, student activity fee and program incidental fees.
- Centennial College reserves the right to make changes, without prior notice, affecting but not limited to areas such as admission procedures, tuition, other fees, courses of instruction, program location, programs of study and general regulations. CentennialCollege will not be liable for any loss or damage incurred by the student as a result of such changes.
- International students who choose not to study at Centennial College after accepting an offer for the 15-week program will be charged a $3,000 non-refundable tuition fee. Other program lengths will be decided on a case-by-case basis. To inquire about refunds, please contact internationalrefund@centennialcollege.ca.
International Student Support Fee
The International Student Support Fee supports the mental health of international students by providing access to counselling services that are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via different methods including in-person, telephone and online.

Each ELL program level is 15 weeks (one semester) in duration. The test scores are approximate and represent the starting point for each level.
