Graduates of the Parts Technician Apprenticeship program will be able to demonstrate achievement of vocational learning outcomes during in-school apprenticeship training that include the essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes for entry level positions in vehicle and equipment parts businesses and dealerships.
The 540 hours (270 hours per year) in-school program focuses primarily on theoretical knowledge and essential skills required to support the performance objectives Apprenticeship Training Standards.
Practical components of the in-school program reinforce theoretical knowledge focused on:
- Applied Work Practices
- Communications and Customer Support
- Merchandising and Inventory Control
- Component Technology and Technical Skills

Admission Requirements
Academic Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- Must be a registered apprentice with the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and a member in good standing with the Skilled Trades Ontario.
How to Apply
You cannot apply directly to the College for admission to a traditional apprenticeship. To attend apprenticeship training, you must be employed at a transportation-related parts business or dealership and registered as an apprentice for this trade with Skills Trades Ontario. When it is your time, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration,Training & Skills Development will invite you to attend in school apprenticeship training at Centennial College, Ashtonbee Campus.

- Order parts or services from internal and external vendors according to manufacturer’s specications.
- Perform work in compliance with Canadian regulatory legislation, legal and ethical practices in the transportation industry.
- Develop and maintain productive client relationships to increase opportunities for client retention.
- Implement marketing and sales strategies to meet the sales expectations of the organization.
- Process and maintain service records and nancial transactions in accordance with organizational and industry standards.
- Communicate information between customers and varying internal service departments (e.g. technicians, sales, parts, warranty) to assist the ow of operations and ensure accurate services are rendered.
- Manage merchandise and inventory for parts and services departments in accordance with manufacturer’s specications, and by liaising with internal and external vendors, to meet the needs of the organization.
- Perform, inspect and maintain various mechanical systems used in motive power trades.
