At Centennial College, we set you up with the skills you need to succeed at the career you want and get you ready for the next step. And, sometimes, that next step lifts you higher and into the aviation world, as you help put together and maintain the aircraft that take us to the skies in Aircraft Maintenance and Management.
What do you do in Aircraft Maintenance and Management?
Basically, you’re making sure planes can fly. In more detailed terms, when you have a career in Aircraft Maintenance and Management, you’re ensuring that aircraft are operating safely, through analyzing, repairing and managing their mechanical and electronic systems.
One of your tasks may be running tests and inspecting an aircraft for any maintenance requirements they might have, making sure there’s no issues or anything that could become issues. Based on that, you find the maintenance solutions and repairs that are needed to ensure an aircraft is safe to fly, and this includes making sure you have, and will have, the parts and supplies that you need. To succeed in this career, you need a detailed understanding of an aircraft’s inner workings, what it needs to fly and, especially, knowing the industry regulations and safety standards.
Why do you want this career?
For one thing, if you enjoy working with your hands and seeing tangible results from the efforts you put in, this career is for you. For another thing, it’s an aviation job with career openings. Canada is a big country and its economy relies on the aviation industry, so it’s a field of consistent growth, meaning there’s plenty of demand, and a good outlook when it comes to jobs for an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME), jobs you can build a long career doing.
Why do you want to go into Centennial College’s program?
We do more than just teach you. We show you through our instruction taking place at the Downsview Campus, where there’s a massive hangar full of aircraft for you to work on, including modern, cutting-edge airplanes, giving you skills that are both practical and up to date. As a school that’s been teaching some version of this for more than a half-century, we’ve staffed the program with veteran industry instructors, ready to pass their experience down to you.
Speaking of what you’re learning, Centennial College has partnerships with aviation companies, which provides students with opportunities for internships, co-op placements and potential career opportunities after graduation, meaning you get to move beyond the campus and practice your skills in the real world.
On top of that, Centennial’s program is accredited by Transport Canada, which means that graduates will have met the requirements needed to obtain a Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license, as well as acquiring the extra business and management skills on top of the technical skills you’ve learned in school.
Bottom line: If you’re mechanically inclined, desire a career in Canada that’ll put you in demand, and want an education that’ll put you at the front of the line into the sky, Aviation Maintenance and Management is your career, and your Centennial College program.
