New to Canada?
The Settling In Series aims to support international students and students who are new to Canada, Ontario and Toronto. The series of orientation webinars will help you with your transition to Canada, Centennial and the local community. We cover important topics such as: housing, shopping, avoiding scams, important immigration details, community resources, getting to know your neighbourhood and much more! You will also meet the International Student Support Team who can guide you through your college journey and answer any questions you may have. All are welcome!

Welcome to Centennial College! Are you moving to Canada or live in another province and moving to Toronto? You might have many questions about living in Toronto - the weather and what to wear, neighbourhoods, finding a home, getting around, and more. Come to this drop-in session to get quick answers to your inquiries. This session will provide you with quick answers to ease your worries ahead of the Settling In sessions happening in the next few weeks. Whether you're starting a new program in Canada or halfway around the world, the Services and Global Experience Team (SaGE) is here for you.

Housing Accommodations
Are you looking for a homestay, a shared room, or apartment for yourself? If you are with your family, are you looking for a house or apartment? In this session, we'll talk about the essentials of finding your new home in Toronto and the surrounding area. We'll show you where to look, how to avoid scams, a checklist you need before signing a contract, and of course all the different types of accommodation available with their pros and cons.

Avoiding Scams
As a new student you might have some concerns about being scammed. Emails, texts, phone calls and fake advertisements are all methods that scammers use to target international students. Although we can't guarantee you won't be a victim of fraud, we can help you identify and avoid potential scams. Join us for an informative session that will give you the confidence to know what to do when you are faced with a situation that makes you think 'Is this real?'.

Culture Shock
Are you missing your family and friends? Do you feel nervous about how you will fit in when you arrive? Culture shock is experienced by many who travel to new places and we want you to know it is normal. Traveling to a new country or new city, culture shock can appear at any moment. Join Mona Chan, our friendly well-travelled Counsellor who knows a lot of culture shock through first hand experience.
