Sudan, the third largest country in Africa, has been going through tough times since April 2019, when the military (including the Rapid Support Forces) ousted President Al Bashir, ending his three decades of rule. A temporary civilian-military government was assigned until elections can be held in 2023. In October 2021 the armed forces seized power in a coup that put a halt on Sudan’s transition to democracy.
Tension between the RSF and the Sudanese Army began to escalate in February 2023, which led to a civil war that began in April 2023. Many innocent civilian men, women and children are being murdered, sexually assaulted and displaced and there are shortages of medicine, food, water and power.
Online donations are also accepted and tax receipts will be issued by the International Charity Relief Organization St Moses Coptic Relief Organization. Donate online or by e-transfer to info@smro.ca. Please state in the comment “For Sudan”.
