The total time commitment is approximately 20 hours to complete the entire badge. However, you have the duration of your time at the college to complete the program – you must finish everything by week 12 of your final semester to be awarded the digital badge.
No! The best part of this digital badge is you get to complete it from the comfort of your own space, time and schedule. The only component you must attend either live online or in-person is the Self Leadership workshop (1 hour), which can be booked through the Self Leadership step or the leadership calendar once you’re enrolled in the badge.
Yes it is! If you’re a Centennial College student at any campus, the badge is free.
No, unfortunately you cannot. But remember – it’s only a 20 hour commitment! If you can sign up for the digital badge in or before your last semester, you can get it done before you graduate. You can also attend our office hours here if you have any questions throughout the completion of the digital badge.
By participating in the Digital Badge in Self Leadership, you will…
- Honour a greater understanding of yourself. This includes becoming aware of your beliefs, values, strengths, areas of improvement, gaps in understanding and personal goal setting practices.
- Relate leadership theory to practice. This includes exploring learned leadership approaches and styles through an informational interview with a leader of your choice.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and personal skills. Essential Employability Skills are valuable for all graduates, regardless of the level of their credential, whether they pursue a career path, or they pursue further education. Interpersonal and personal skills are two (2) of Ontario's six (6) Essential Employability Skills. The Digital Badge in Self Leadership gives students an opportunity to show respect for diverse values and belief systems [interpersonal] while managing your time and engaging in reflective practice [personal].
The digital badge in self leadership is not an academic course. It is a co-curricular non-credit badge added to your experiential record on Experience Centennial when you’re finished the badge. Once you are finished, you can link the badge from the experiential record to your LinkedIn
