Academic Scams
Many online services offer to write an excellent essay for you. Not only does using these services violate academic integrity, the following security risks are also associated with them.
- Financial Information
- Payment for these services requires you to provide your financial data to a less-than-credible company and their credit card processor. Most of whom are international, where financial protection isn't present.
- Identity Theft
- Personal information such as your college email address, home address and mobile numbers are disclosed in this transaction which can be used to access your financial accounts, make purchases or secure loans in your name.
- Putting Classmates at risk
- As collateral for payment, many of these services require access to your college portal account thereby exposing the personal information of your classmates.
- Academic Integrity Scam Exposure
- The scam involves the scammer stating that they have evidence that the victim is cheating on or in their classes. The scammer will provide photoshopped screenshots of emails and try to extort money from you.
