Piers Fountain

Bridging to University Nursing, Class of 2020

Making a difference in the healthcare sector comes naturally to Piers Fountain, who continues to build on his skills and passion for helping others. Not only is he a registered primary care nurse, but he is also pursuing a Master of Nursing degree at Toronto Metropolitan University.

During his time at Centennial, Piers supported his classmates by hosting study sessions, demonstrating compassion, mentorship, and a spirit of collaboration that inspired others to do their best. These contributions were especially impressive, given that Piers was still recovering from a traumatic brain injury that he sustained in 2016. By developing new study strategies and staying focused on his goals, Piers excelled in Centennial’s Bridging program and earned his undergraduate degree at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Even after graduating, Piers remains closely connected to Centennial. For the past two years, he has returned to support the College’s annual mock disaster simulation event – offering guidance, encouragement and on-the-job insights to current students. Piers’ involvement in the event has enriched the learning environment, equipping future healthcare professionals with the skills and the mindset needed for their success.

In the workplace, Piers continues to apply his collaborative spirit and commitment to growth that he cultivated at Centennial. His background in student support, coupled with his aptitude for leadership, and firsthand understanding of resilience – molded by his own recovery – is reflected in the supportive learning environment that he creates for those around him.

Piers' commitment to academic success, mentorship, and leadership underpins the significant impression he has made and continues to make in his nursing career. His achievements are a testament to the transformative power of perseverance, compassion, and dedication.
