Introduction to Alternative Energy Technologies (IEST-001)

This workshop takes a broad look at today's most popular alternative energy technologies, as well as how you can incorporate them into your home or business.  These technologies include solar (photovoltaic (PV) and thermal), wind, geothermal, micro-hydro, biomass, and biogas.  The course runs for a total length of 40 hours, and will include one or more field trips on one/both of the Saturday classes.

Hands-on Solar Energy Workshop (IEST-002)

This workshop is currently being redesigned to meet certification standards established by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners.  Registration details will be released once a start date for this workshop has been determined.

Hands-on Wind Energy Workshop (IEST-003)

A 3 week accelerated workshop designed for anyone interested in the installation, repair and maintenance of small residential/commercial wind power systems.

This course will cover the background and theory of wind energy conversion, low to high power system varieties, typical applications, wind monitoring technologies, energy storage, and electrical grid interface connection methods. Tower, blade and power conversion design, manufacturing, installation and servicing will also be covered.
