Dr. Meera Mather

Dean, Faculty of Lifelong Learning and Industry Training

Dr. Meera Mather brings more than two decades of senior leadership experience across higher education, workforce development, and community-focused learning initiatives. She currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Lifelong Learning and Industry Training. Prior to this role, she served as Dean of the School of English and Liberal Studies and held Associate Dean and Professor positions, during which she led complex academic portfolios spanning flexible learning, academic upgrading, English language and Liberal studies programming, assessment services, and workforce development initiatives.

Throughout her career, Dr. Mather has been deeply committed to learner-centred education and to building responsive, high-impact programs that serve students, employers, and communities. Her work is grounded in equity, access, and inclusion, with a strong focus on anti-racist and decolonial educational frameworks that support learner success and belonging.

Dr. Mather is known for her relational and collaborative leadership approach. She leads with care, accountability, and purpose. Dr. Mather is passionate about fostering cultures of academic excellence, innovation, and creativity, and about creating pathways that remove barriers and expand opportunities for lifelong learners. She also brings a strong record of public service and community engagement, consistently working to challenge stigma, shift systems, and ensure education remains a powerful force for social and economic mobility.

Meera holds a Doctor of Education and brings advanced degrees and professional certifications in curriculum studies, leadership, adult education, and Teaching English as a Second Language. Her academic foundation continues to inform her strategic leadership and commitment to evidence-informed, human-centred educational practice.
