Stephen Young

VP, Institutional Strategy and Operations

Stephen has transformed organizations through sophisticated data analytics and engaging the creative energies of teams he has led – and many of us will have experienced innovations that Stephen and his team launched first hand.

At McDonalds, Stephen led the deployment, sequencing and metrics of the multi-faceted service model that allows digital kiosk, mobile app, and in-person order entry for seamless and efficient service through a coordinated workflow behind the scenes.

Experiences with this level and scope of data sophistication and strategic acuity required for these high-stakes business innovations will anchor us to intelligently orient our work – again, for students.

Data, analysis, and strategy aside, Stephen is a relational leader who is described as honest and authentic, highly collaborative, and inclusive. During his tenure at Tim Horton’s, he achieved the highest improvement in employee satisfaction scores within the overall business with a focus on mentoring, training and talent development. Further and throughout his career, Stephen has actively engaged in multiple EDI initiatives and programs to raise awareness, educate, and address systemic barriers.

It is his genuine desire to transform lives and communities through learning-in-action that brings Stephen to Centennial; he is passionate about who Centennial is and what we do for students and excited to share his strengths to deepen our practice towards “taking flight and soaring”.

In addition to his BA (Hon) in Geographic Analytics from Ryerson University, and a Certificate in Strategic Agility from Schulich School of Business (York University), Stephen has a post graduate degree in Spatial Analysis.
