The Pride Program

Positive Space banner

The Pride Program (formally Positive Space) is intended to increase the visibility and continued development of respectful, supportive, educational and safe spaces for all 2SLGBTQQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual) people and allies and for people researching 2SLGBTQQIA+ issues. It’s important to mention here that for purposes of inclusion, the adoption of the “+” sign is used to signify inclusion of all gender and sexual diversity.

The Pride Program aims to make the campus a more welcoming place for students, staff and faculty of all sexual orientations and gender identities. It increases awareness and opens up discussions on often suppressed issues and creates avenues of support across the campus. Additionally, it is a public sign that Centennial College is a supportive campus to potential students, staff and faculty exploring the possibility of Centennial for their studies or career. Although this program focuses on sexual and gender identity issues, people who have positive attitudes about these issues are also more supportive of other forms of diversity. We hope that all members of the campus community will find support and respect through the Pride Program.
