Artist Statement

This figure, exuding a sense of quiet resilience and determination, strives from individuality and isolation towards oneness and acceptance. The figure is sitting in a serene and contemplative manner as the surrounding patterns invite the viewer in.

During the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, I lived alone and felt very isolated, anxious, and scared. The fear of the unknown quickly took a toll on my mental health. Human connection is always so important during these types of moments and to make up for the lack of connection, I turned to art, as that is something that has always grounded and comforted me. This is the first drawing of the collection based on the pandemic and the necessity of connection and togetherness.
