UDL at Centennial

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework that recognizes and incorporates various types of learning styles for students. This project, created by students in their Storyworks course for the Advanced Television and Film - Script to Screen program, was carried out for several years, with the main goal of highlighting UDL at Centennial. This included filming a series of videos that incorporated instructor interviews, as well as how UDL was put into action by these instructors.

A young refugee to Canada faces challenges and conflict in her new country.

A Centennial College and the Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS) co-production. In 2017, CICS head Alfred Lam approached Centennial College Broadcasting Program Coordinator Chris Terry about the possibility of producing a futuristic dramatic short that could be used to promote discussions on immigrant issues in schools across GTA. 2035 was the result.

Written and directed by 2017 Script to Screen graduate Tannaz Keshavarz and shot in and around Centennial College’s Story Arts Centre, campus the show ultimately required the participation of students and instructors from eight Centennial College programs: Script to Screen - Advanced Television and Film, Broadcasting – Film, Television, Digital Media and Radio, Business Foundations, Fine Arts Studio, Graphic Design, Lifestyle Media – Content Creation, Music Industry Arts and Performance and Theatre Arts and Performance.
