Jose is an experienced mathematical educator, researcher, and passionate about teaching. Before joining The Business School (TBS) at Centennial College, he was an associate professor in the fields of mathematics and mathematics education at the Pedagogical University (UPEL) in Venezuela. In this institution, Jose also was the coordinator of the graduate program (Master) in mathematics, and the head of the math department. Besides, he taught math courses at George Brown College, and he has participated as a mentor at the College Teacher Training Program (GBC-CTTP).
Regarding his educational background, Jose has demonstrated being a lifelong learner. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education (UPEL), a master’s degree in mathematics, and a Doctorate in Education with a major in Mathematics Education from UPEL-UCLA- UNEXPO universities in Venezuela. He also got the College Teacher Training Program certificate at George Brown College.
Since he joined Centennial College’s faculty team in 2016, Jose has taught the courses Math of Finance 1 and 2 in the programs of the department of accounting and financial services at TBS. He also is the leader of the course Math 128. Jose is committed to the use of active learning and UDL's principles in his teaching practice to promote long-lasting, meaningful, and relevant learning experiences within a positive learning environment.
