The Eighth Fire and the Centre for Faculty Development and Teaching Innovation (CFDTI) invite all employees and students to join us for an afternoon of Ogichidaa teachings, ceremony, reflection, and community as we gather to honour and feast our ancestors on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
We will begin with a shared potluck lunch at 12 p.m. in Auntie’s Kitchen (A2-20), Progress Campus, then move to Ogichidaa teachings at 1 p.m. in the Basket Room (A2-16). Our gathering will conclude at 3 p.m.
Ogichidaa teachings offer important lessons in courage, responsibility, leadership, protection, and service to our communities. Together, we will create space for learning, reflection, and connection while honouring the ancestors whose knowledge, love, and guidance continue to shape our lives and communities.
Participants are welcome to bring a dish to share. Bringing food is not a requirement to attend; everyone has a place at the table. If you plan to bring a dish, please ensure that you provide ingredients and allergens. If you have a feast bundle (plate, cup, utensils), please bring that as well.
Whether you are Indigenous or non-Indigenous, familiar with ceremony or participating for the first time, we welcome you to join us with respect, openness, and a willingness to listen and learn.
We look forward to gathering in community with you.
To register for this gathering, please send an email to Tanecia Rodriguez, Indigenous Outreach Coordinator at trodriguez@centennialcollege.ca. We will be capping registrations at 40 students.
