On behalf of Centennial College and the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement, we would like to express our gratitude to the 2020-2021 Board of Directors of the Centennial College Student Association Inc. (CCSAI) for their extreme generosity, dedication and commitment to the wellbeing of all Centennial College students.
Throughout the course of this pandemic, the CCSAI Board of Directors has made multiple impactful donations to the several areas of need affecting our students including the 2020 COVID-19 Appeal, the 2020 Pride Fundraiser for scholarships targeting L2SLGBTQQIA+ students, and the 2020 Golf Tournament Fundraiser. We would like to highlight that these donations made in the past year have amounted to almost half a million dollars going directly to students in need.
With a contribution of $100,000 to the COVID-19 Relief Bursary, the CCSAI Board was instrumental in our effort to provide support to students during the pandemic to help with essentials like food, shelter and internet. Likewise, their generous donation of $100,000 to the Student Emergency Fund was paramount in addressing the immediate and urgent needs of both domestic and international students who are facing housing and food related insecurities.
This genuine level of care and concern for students’ welfare coming from board members is no novelty, as those who are familiar with the CCSAI’s scholarships and spirit of philanthropy can attest. Currently 86 domestic students and 54 international students are being awarded $1,000 CCSAI scholarships. And it comes as no surprise that board members have made the decision to increase the number of CCSAI scholarships in 2021 by $80,000. This means that additional funds will be made available to students in the current and summer semester.
We are sincerely grateful for the continuous support extended to Centennial students by the CCSAI and wish current board members the best of luck as they move forward with their careers. We are certain that our students feel the same way and would like to send you a short and sweet message that says: thank you!
Sincerely,
The Office of Development and Alumni Engagement team
