Centennial College and Northpine Foundation are expanding opportunities for Scarborough residents through a transformational new partnership designed to increase access to post-secondary education and create pathways to career success.
Announced on April 15 at the Scarborough Walk of Fame, a $5-million endowment will establish the Northpine Investing in Scarborough Fellowship. The initiative has been made possible through a $2.5-million investment from Northpine Foundation — the largest philanthropic contribution in Centennial College’s history — matched by Centennial College.
The Fellowship will support approximately 50 students annually from Scarborough’s Neighbourhood Improvement Areas (NIAs) by providing financial assistance of approximately $4,000 per year. Beyond financial support, students will also benefit from dedicated student success advising and work-integrated learning opportunities that help bridge education and employment.
Designed to remove systemic barriers to post-secondary completion and employment, the Fellowship takes a cohort-based approach that integrates financial support, academic progression, and career pathways. The program prioritizes entrance scholarships tied to fields experiencing high labour market demand, including healthcare, skilled trades, advanced manufacturing, and applied technologies.
This investment reflects a shared commitment between Centennial College and Northpine Foundation to empower underserved youth and strengthen the future workforce within Scarborough and beyond.
By creating meaningful opportunities for students to access, persist in, and successfully transition from post-secondary education into rewarding careers, the Northpine Investing in Scarborough Fellowship represents a lasting investment in both individual potential and community growth.
Centennial College is proud to partner with Northpine Foundation on this historic initiative and grateful for their extraordinary commitment to advancing educational access and student success in Scarborough.
