It has been a longtime coming --- Get Ready for HYPE! We are glad to announce the re-launching of Centennial’s HYPE program in the summer of 2023. After being on a prolonged hiatus due to pandemic restrictions, HYPE is returning and will be providing opportunities for youth from underserved neighbourhoods to explore pathways to their post-secondary education and career interests.
We are looking forward to, and invite, community partners, agencies, schools, organizations, families, and individuals to join with us again, and re-engage, on our journey to making this year’s HYPE program a successful one. Please contact us regarding applications, referrals, and information on the program. The online application for this program will be made available in the Spring of 2023 on the Centennial College website. We will follow up with a specific date.
The HYPE program at Centennial College has given many young people new confidence to access post-secondary education by helping to overcome the economic and social barriers that may have interfered with school attendance in the past. Through the development of relationships, HYPE provides a supportive and inclusive environment for youth aged 17-29, primarily living in underserved neighbourhoods, to explore educational and career pathways.
In the summer, classes run Monday to Wednesday, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with an hour for lunch. On Thursdays, instead of class, the entire group participates in skill and personal development workshops, like Personal Empowerment and Financial Management. On Fridays, HYPE offers Academic Preparation for participants interested in pursuing post-secondary education.
