| Description | Business analysis involves conducting research to identify business needs and developing solutions to address business problems. The analyst must be able to identify, gather and analyze relevant data; understand its meaning and implications, and finally construct and communicate recommendations in a persuasive manner. A variety of analytical frameworks can be used to accomplish this and the analysis must be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of each. The course is underpinned by organizational theory in general, well as specific theoretical contributions in the areas of leadership, organizational behaviour, management, organizational change/ development and human resources management. In this course, students will be exposed to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) framework, and a wide variety of strategies and techniques, to enable them to investigate business problems in a rigorous manner and generate robust solutions. As the course progresses, students will engage in progressively less structured, more complex problems, culminating in a major research report and presentation. |
