| Description | This course builds on the Java programming skills developed in COMP228 and introduces students to modern enterprise application development using Java, the Spring Framework, and Spring Boot. Students design, develop, test, and deploy scalable enterprise applications by applying dependency injection, enterprise application architecture, RESTful web services, reactive programming, data persistence, authentication and authorization, cloud-native development, and microservices. The course emphasizes responsible AI-assisted development practices, enabling students to use AI tools to support software design, coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, documentation, and application modernization while applying critical evaluation, human oversight, security, privacy, reliability, and professional judgment. Through hands-on laboratory work and enterprise software development projects, students gain practical experience building robust, maintainable, secure, and cloud-ready Java applications that reflect current industry practices.
