Description

This practical lab provides the pharmacy technician student with the knowledge and skills necessary to work in a hospital pharmacy. Students will explore the relationship and responsibility of the pharmacy department to the rest of the hospital in providing pharmacy services that ensure a high standard of patient care. Students will learn the necessary steps in the safe, effective, efficient dispensing of patient medication using a variety of hospital drug distribution methods. Opportunity will be provided for the development of proficiency through individual and group work practice activities related to professional competencies.

Prerequisites

  • Complete all of the following:
    • Earn a minimum grade of B in each of the following:
      • PHAR–132: Pharmacy Dispensing Practice II
      • PHAR–124: Compounding 1
    • Must earn a result of PASS in:
      • PHAR–133: Pharmaceutical Calculations II
