| Description | This course introduces students to the multifaceted role production design and art direction play in professional film and television production. Within this course, students will be introduced to the creative positions within the design team, as well as the tools used to communicate design ideas. The students will develop the skills to analyze story and arrange it into design elements, synthesizing these into a design strategy for a film or television production. It examines the collaborative relationship between director, production designer, and cinematographer, as well as various other department heads. Students will also gain a historical perspective of how the role of production design has evolved, and how it's been influenced by advances in technology. Prerequisites
