| Description | This course introduces the principles and practices of secure software engineering and the development of resilient software systems. Students learn how to identify, assess, and mitigate security risks throughout the software development lifecycle by applying secure design principles, secure coding practices, threat modeling, authentication and authorization, data protection, application security testing, vulnerability assessment, and risk management. The course examines common software and web application vulnerabilities, secure API development, cloud security considerations, and current industry security standards and best practices. Students also apply responsible AI-assisted development practices to support secure software design, code analysis, vulnerability detection, testing, documentation, and security review while maintaining critical evaluation, human oversight, privacy, security, and professional judgment. Through hands-on laboratories and practical projects, students develop the knowledge and skills required to build, evaluate, and maintain secure software applications for modern computing environments.
