Sarah Fergueson

Convocation & Alumnus of Distinction Ambassador

Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion, 2019

Sarah Ferguson is a proud Centennial College alumnus and current employee with the Safety, Health & Well-being team. With a strong commitment to student success, well-being, and community engagement, Sarah brings a valuable dual perspective to the Alumni Advisory Committee that reflects both the student and employee experience at Centennial.

Sarah is deeply passionate about the work being done at Centennial College and the meaningful role the institution plays in supporting students, graduates, and the broader community. This strong connection to the College inspired her involvement in the Alumni Advisory Committee, where she is focused on strengthening alumni engagement and ensuring graduates continue to feel connected, supported, and valued long after graduation.

In her role on the Committee, Sarah hopes to contribute to increasing awareness of alumni initiatives and enhancing programming that supports both recent graduates and long-standing alumni. She is especially interested in helping create stronger pathways for engagement that foster meaningful, long-term relationships between alumni and the College community, while encouraging ongoing connection across different stages of life and career.

Sarah’s Centennial journey began as a student, where she completed her field practicum with the Safety, Health & Well-being team. That experience became a turning point in her career, leading to a full-time role following graduation. For the past seven years, she has proudly continued to grow within the same team, contributing to initiatives that support student wellness, safety, and success. This transition from student to staff has given her a unique understanding of the full student lifecycle and the importance of creating supportive, inclusive institutional environments.

A key milestone in Sarah’s career has been the opportunity to supervise students from the same postgraduate program she once completed. This experience has been both meaningful and rewarding, allowing her to mentor future professionals while also learning from their evolving perspectives and experiences. It has strengthened her leadership skills and deepened her commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and student development.

Sarah encourages current students and graduates to remain connected with peers, mentors, and the College community. She believes that staying engaged after graduation can open unexpected opportunities for collaboration, support, and professional growth, while also reinforcing a strong sense of belonging.

For Sarah, staying connected to the alumni community is essential because connection is a fundamental pillar of well-being. Building meaningful relationships with others who share similar experiences fosters belonging, strengthens community, and ensures alumni continue to feel valued, supported, and connected throughout their journeys.
