For decades, our School of Media and Creative Arts — now part of the Faculty of Global Business and Creative Industries — has been a destination for students passionate about communications, media, arts and design.
The Story Arts Centre
The Story Arts Centre has its own place in Canadian cultural history. Once home to the hit TV series Degrassi High (filmed on-site from 1989 to 1991), the campus has long been a creative hub for artists, storytellers, and innovators.
As we look to the future, programs currently offered at the Story Arts Centre will move to our Progress Campus in Summer 2026.
The Progress Campus Experience
While we say goodbye to an iconic space, we’re opening the door to even greater opportunities. Progress Campus offers modern, state-of-the-art facilities designed for collaboration and creativity. Students will also enjoy access to the full range of Centennial College services — from academic advising and library resources to residence, tutoring, counselling and accessibility supports — all in a commuter-friendly location.
At Progress, we’re excited to continue building an inspiring learning environment where students in the creative industries can grow, create and thrive.
We are looking forward to cultivating learning and career pathways to support and grow the media and creative arts industries in the Scarborough community.
At the School of Media and Creative Arts, we believe that creative expression shapes how we understand and engage with the world.
Whether through film, gaming, music or digital storytelling, our programs are designed to help students discover their voice, craft compelling narratives, and connect with audiences through sound, image, and performance.
The newly designed and developed teaching, learning, and collaborative spaces at our Progress campus demonstrate our commitment to nurture the next generation of creators, innovators, and storytellers. Our students drive cultural and economic growth across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
If you have a story to tell or a vision to share, this is where your journey begins (starting Fall 2026).
Student FAQ
The relocation of the Story Arts Centre programs is part of a strategic decision made by Centennial College to ensure the long-term sustainability of our academic offerings. As a result of factors including government funding levels and policy changes, we’ve had to reassess our resources and align our programs in a way that ensures continued quality education, improved access to resources, and the ability to support students effectively.
The decision to relocate programs from the Story Arts Centre was not made lightly, and we recognize the important cultural significance of SAC, particularly for the arts community and its association with programs that have shaped Toronto's creative industries. However, with changing financial circumstances and the evolving educational landscape, it became necessary to consolidate some of our programs and services into a more sustainable, resource-rich campus.
