Areas of Rescue (AOR) are locations on each floor where there is no direct access to exit the campus (the floor is above or below ground). Marked with signs, AOR’s are stairwells designated to provide a known waiting area for people who are unable to evacuate up or down stairs. In the event of a real fire situation, AORs are the first area to be checked by fire fighters. If you find refuge in an AOR, be sure to activate the nearest Yellow Emergency Phone to let Campus Security know you are there.
STUDENTS requiring evacuation assistance must self-identify to the Centre for Accessible Learning and Counselling Services (CALCS) and provide their schedule. CALCS will work with the student and their faculty to develop their individual Emergency Evacuation Plan and submit it to Campus Security so the information is readily available.
EMPLOYEES requiring evacuation assistance shall complete the Emergency Evacuation Questionnaire and submit it to their Supervisor/Manager for the completion of an individualized Emergency Evacuation Plan. The Supervisor will submit the plan to Campus Security so the information is readily available.
