If you’re a student looking for an education that’ll make you stand out from the crowd, one way to achieve that is by studying abroad. That’s why Centennial College opens its doors to international students in Canada with open arms. Canada is a diverse and welcoming country, and Centennial reflects that spirit, with a multitude of cultures and languages spoken on our campuses. No matter where you come from, you’re sure to find a sense of belonging here.
To celebrate this diversity, we’re hosting International Education week, November 18-22. This week-long, campus-wide celebration is filled with events that let you learn about other cultures, while also helping you with your studies. Here are a few more reasons why it’s a good time to study abroad in Canada, and why Centennial College is an excellent choice for international students.
Canada (and Toronto) are friendly and multicultural
There's one stereotype Canada is happy to embrace: We're known for being friendly, polite and welcoming. Canada is a multicultural nation, something that, in our history books, is referred to as a "cultural mosaic," in contrast to America's "melting pot." It's about integration, not assimilation, and it’s the law, thanks to the Canadian Multiculturalism Act.
Meanwhile, Centennial College is located in the city of Toronto, which is a hub of multiculturalism. According to Toronto's official website, it’s one of the most diverse cities in the world.
Post Graduate Work Permits for International Students can help you work in Canada
Getting an international education will help you stand out back home, or in any country you choose to work in. And if you want to work in Canada, there are about 50 Centennial programs that offer Post Graduate Work Permit eligibility. This means you can apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit application in Canada after you graduate. Give them a look, and see if there’s anything you’d like to take!
Our education is focused on the world
Because we welcome students from across the globe, Centennial College gives you a globally-focused education that teaches you how to apply your skills worldwide. We want our students to use what they learn for social good, and to help the worldwide community. That’s why you can visit more than just Canada! We give students learning opportunities abroad through Global Citizenship Education activities, including assignments overseas through our GCELE program. Joining one will help you develop your leadership skills.
We celebrate international students
Like we mentioned at the start of this, Centennial College has an International Education Week to celebrate the diversity on our campuses, that manages to be both entertaining and educational.
There’s travelling roadshows and pop-ups with games, activities, and food from some of the different cultures on campus, and even a chance to play soccer against the pros for prizes! There are also some really great sessions on topics like how to manage stress, fight homesickness, create your own zines, discover pathways to Canadian immigration, and more. If you’re an international student who’s already here, come check it out! And if you haven’t already signed up for international education in Canada at Centennial College, it’s one more reason to join our vibrant, multicultural community.
