Welcome to the International Education Week 2024

International Education Week (IEW) is celebrated at post-secondary institutions worldwide. At Centennial College, IEW offers us a unique opportunity to engage with the international journey by celebrating and reflecting on the impact of international education, multiculturalism, and diversity on our campus and in our communities. Take part in this exciting week filled with events and social activities as we engage with the international journey and promote cross-cultural exchange and international education.

Festival of Cultures

Eco-Coffee Barista Competition

Progress Campus ▶︎Wednesday, November 20 - 3:00 pm. - The Local Café and Restaurant, 937 Progress Avenue

In celebration of International Education Week 2024, the School of Community and Health Studies, in collaboration with Chocosol Traders and the Global Learning Office, will host the Eco-Coffee Barista Competition. Baristas from the student body and local cafés will craft drinks highlighting sustainable coffee beans from Pedro Garcia, the Dominican Republic, and showcase their creativity.

Join us for coffee, a panel on sustainability and community empowerment, and the chance to connect with local businesses making a positive impact!


Zine Workshop – Library and Learning Centre

Zines (pronounced “zeens”) are DIY, self-published magazines or mini-comics that come in a variety of genres, shapes, and sizes. Topics for zines are as endless as your imagination: favourite bands, personal stories, recipes, interviews, or subcultures. This International Education Week, join us for a hands-on zine-making workshop to express yourself and meet fellow international students!

No experience necessary. All materials provided!

Centennial Talks: Homesickness Webinar

Moving to a new place, beginning college, and starting a new chapter in our lives can sometimes be exciting. But we can also feel homesick being away from friends, family and familiar places. Homesickness can affect us in a variety of ways. Join us at Centennial talks on how to manage our emotions when feeling homesick.


Building on your International Experience

This presentation will guide you on how to effectively showcase your international work experience when searching for a job in Canada. Learn strategic approaches and tips on how to highlight your unique skills and achievements on your resume. Key topics will include understanding the Canadian job market, translating international experience into industry-specific skills, and creating a resume that connects with employer expectations

Global Experience Photo Exhibit

The IEW Photo Exhibit is back! And this year, we're taking it online! Please submit your original photo in one of the following categories:

  • Heritage and Home
  • Food and Culture
  • Cultural Celebrations
  • Friendship and Stories
  • Centennial Global Experience (Available only to Global Experience participants—please specify which experience your photo is from. Eg. ARAP Brazil, FLIP Lithuania, Global Capstone Dominican Republic, etc.).

Submit your photo to sce@centennialcollege.ca with the subject line: 'IEW 2024 Photo Exhibit - Your Name.' Along with your named submission, please each include a short caption (50 words max). You may only submit one photo per category, and you don’t need to submit for all categories. Deadline for submission is Monday, November 11, 2024.

The Exhibit and subsequent voting stage will take place during IEW, so stay tuned!

Pathway to PR-OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program)

This information Session, hosted by Centennial College's International Student Services team and Borderpass, provides a comprehensive overview of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). Designed for students and recent graduates, this session covers key OINP streams, eligibility requirements, and application steps to help you navigate your options for permanent residence. Don’t miss this valuable opportunity to learn about the OINP and connect with resources to support your future.

This session is offered in-person but will be streamed live via Zoom. The in-person session has limited capacity so it is on a first come, first serve basis. If we reach capacity at the venue, you can still join the session online.
