On May 14, Centennial College welcomed 160 high school girls from TCDSB, TDSB, PDSB, YCDSB, and YRDSB to its Ashtonbee Campus for the annual Jill of All Trades™ event — a full-day, hands-on experience designed to introduce young women to exciting careers in the skilled trades and technologies.

Now in its fourth year hosted by Centennial, Jill of All Trades offers students a unique opportunity to explore skilled trades through interactive workshops. Participants rotated through multiple sessions, gaining real-world experience in fields they may not have previously considered — from automotive and aviation to carpentry and electrical work.

And yes, there was even a candy bar to help keep the energy up throughout the day!

This impactful initiative is a collaboration between Centennial College, Skills Ontario, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (UBC). Special thanks to our sponsors and to OYAP for making this empowering event possible.

Workshop Highlights from the 2025 Event Included:

  • Six Transportation Trades Workshops: Auto, Auto Body, Aviation, Heavy Duty Equipment, Motorcycle and Powersports, and Truck and Coach
  • Two Engineering Technology Workshops: Electrician and Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning (HRAC)
  • One Carpentry Workshop: Sponsored by Skills Ontario and UBC

The event is part of a broader effort to promote gender diversity in skilled trades and empower young women to pursue rewarding, in-demand careers in sectors where women have been historically underrepresented.
