The Centennial College Work-Study program provides on-campus, part-time employment for students in need of additional financial assistance. It is aimed at students with demonstrated financial need. Eligible students will be paid at a minimum rate of $17.64 per hour.
This on-campus employment program helps students gain transferable skills and connect their part-time jobs with their future career goals. Once a student is hired through work study, they will receive additional information to register for the program.
Eligibility Criteria:
Eligible students are allowed to work up to a maximum of 10 hours per week at a minimum of $17.64 per hour. Although the number of hours per week may vary per department, students are not allowed to exceed 140 hours per semester enrolled.
BASIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- You must have a valid Social Insurance Number.
- You must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or a Protected Person.
- You must be considered an Ontario resident.
- You must be enrolled full-time (minimum 60%) in a Ministry approved program during your semester of employment (excludes the Summer semester).
- You must demonstrate financial need.
- You must have satisfactory academic standing (minimum GPA of 3.0).
Regretfully, Out-of-province students, and receiving the Better Jobs Ontario program or the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) program are not eligible for the Work Study program.
SUMMER SEMESTER EXCEPTION
During the summer semester, students are allowed to work a maximum of 24-hours per week provided he/she is not enrolled full-time during the Summer semester. To be eligible for the summer work-study program, the student must have been enrolled full time at Centennial College during the Winter semester and be returning to full-time studies at Centennial College during the Fall semester. Students can work up to 290 hours in the Summer semester Work-study program.
Eligible students are allowed to work up to a maximum of 15 hours per week at a minimum of $17.64 per hour. Although the number of hours per week may vary per department, students are not allowed to exceed 210 hours per semester enrolled.
BASIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- You must be an international student at Centennial College.
- You must have a valid Study Permit, bearing on campus work authorization.
- You must have a valid Social Insurance Number.
- You must be enrolled full-time (minimum 60%) in a Ministry approved program during your semester of employment.
- You must demonstrate financial need.
- You must have satisfactory academic standing (minimum GPA of 2.5).

How does the program work?
1. Check the links above to see what positions are available
Some departments do not post their vacancies so students are encouraged to inquire at the department they wish to work for. For example, if you are seeking to obtain employment with the Library, you would visit the Library to submit your resume.
2. Submit your application as outlined by the hiring department.
If considered, your employer will provide you with an application for the Work-study program. Once completed, your employer will forward the required documents to the Student Financial Services office for processing.
3. The Student Financial Services office will evaluate your application to determine if you are eligible.
4. The hiring department will notify you about the results of your application.
