| Description | The purpose of this six semester course is to introduce Energy System students to the essentials of Building Automation Systems to apply in practical field. Students will develop a solid understanding on how to control the facility equipment within a building structure efficiently to conserve energy considering safety and reliability as priority. A comprehensive understanding will be developed on Building Automation System (BAS) based on energy efficiency in lighting, HVAC systems, and hot water supply. properly commissioned and maintained to ensure they function as expected. Students will examine the communication network architecture and its application to BAS including the hardware and software. A hands-on practical lab facility will help the students to develop working knowledge in configuration, integration, commissioning and testing of the field equipment. Extensive theory and practice thus achieved can be applied on residential and commercial building automation systems in practical field. Prerequisites
