Rebecca Peirson, Program Coordinator and Instructor within our Arts Management program, recently announced she joined the Board for the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE). This organization represents arts administration programs from around the globe.
When initially preparing to become a board member, Rebecca shares, “It was sort of like preparing for a job interview but ramped up many notches. I had to familiarize myself with the Board’s roles and responsibilities and submit my bio, resumé, letter of interest, and two reference letters. Then, I interviewed with the Board selection committee.”
Rebecca has signed up for two working committees – the credential committee and the faculty development task force. “There are many exciting initiatives at AAAE. I am excited about the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Research Fellow(s) initiative investigating the intersection of EDI and arts management programs.”
She continues, “I am also excited by the board structure change. There are Co-Presidents, Co-Treasurers, and Co-EDI Liaisons. I think it will be interesting and inspiring to work with a less hierarchal and typical (corporate) Board Structure.”
Rebecca also shares that she is very excited that next year’s annual AAAE conference will be in-person. “Let’s be honest, well-run conferences are excellent places to learn, but in-person networking is much more dynamic and enriching than online.”
Congratulations, Rebecca, on this well-deserved achievement!
