Our Arts Education and Community Engagement Students are excited to introduce Arts Connect. Hear from Alek, Gabby and Tran about what it offers.
Arts Connect was created to foster creativity and community. All are welcome, regardless of skill level or background. From painting to dancing, we celebrate all art forms. Our events, like crafting ornaments and self-love cards, offer a space for connection. Join our monthly workshops for laughter and learning. Arts Connect is more than a club; it's where friendships bloom and creativity thrives. Come discover the magic with us at the Story Arts Centre. Let's explore, create, and inspire together!
A message from Alek
Let me rewind a bit. Like many of you, I've always been drawn to the arts. Art has always been there in my life, whether it's doodling in my notebook during lectures or spending hours lost in the strokes of a paintbrush. But when I arrived at the Story Arts Centre, I found myself looking to create more of a connection with creative folks, to learn and grow together in our passion for art.
With Gabby and Tran, who continue to serve as key executives of the art club to this day, we founded Arts Connect following an overwhelming amount of support from our peers in the Arts Education and Community Engagement program. To them, the idea of Arts Connect stood out as a beacon of creativity where everyone is welcomed with open arms. No matter your skill level or background, there is a place for you here in Arts Connect. Whether you are a painter, designer, facilitator, photographer, or dancer, all forms of fostering community engagement through art are celebrated and embraced.
Arts Connect is also a hub for fostering genuine connections. Whether crafting a Christmas ornament filled with wishes for your loved ones or creating your self-love pop-up cards for Valentine's Day, there's a spot for you at our events to craft and connect with fellow students who share a similar passion.
One of the highlights of Arts Connect is our monthly art workshops. Especially the one coming this month. The atmosphere will buzz with excitement and possibility. Each table will be filled with materials for artistic expression—a chance to laugh, learn and inspire each other to push the boundaries of our creativity.
As I reflect on my journey with Arts Connect, I can't help but feel grateful for the friendships formed, the skills learned, and the memories made. It's more than just a club; it's a place where I can genuinely be myself and explore my passion for arts education and community engagement.
So, to all my fellow college students, I encourage you to join us at Arts Connect at the Story Arts Centre. Whether it's through joining, attending a workshop, or simply picking up a paintbrush and letting your creativity flow, embrace the magic of art. Who knows what wonders you'll discover along the way?
Keep an eye out for Arst Connect on campus. We hope to meet you soon.
