Broadcasting and Film, Class of 2011

Since graduating from the Broadcasting and Film program in 2011, Kaycee has built an impressive career across Canadian television and media production. She worked in production roles on television series such as Hard Rock Medical, Never Ever Do This At Home, and But I’m Chris Jericho, as well as major broadcast productions including Entertainment Tonight Canada, the Juno Awards, Swimming Canada’s Pan Am Trials, and coverage related to the London Olympic Games. As a freelance producer, she also created commercial and branded storytelling content for organizations including the Songwriters Association of Canada (SOCAN), Evergreen Bike Works in Toronto, and the Kingston Flying Club.

For the past seven years, Kaycee has worked at Shopify, one of Canada’s most prominent global technology companies, in various roles in client relations, technical writing, and video hosting. With her most recent role as a Senior Content Producer. Within her workplace, Kaycee has been widely recognized for her collaborative leadership style. She regularly supports colleagues by contributing creative ideas, offering feedback, and facilitating retrospective sessions designed to help teams learn from projects and improve future outcomes. Her willingness to mentor, share knowledge, and strengthen team culture has made a lasting impact on those she works with.

In 2025, Kaycee directed her debut short documentary, To Labour, with Love, which premiered at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival and earned her a nomination for Best First-Time Director at the Toronto International Women’s Festival. Building on this momentum, she recently launched her own company, KLH Creative Co., with a focus on producing meaningful narrative content for digital companies and documentary filmmaking.

Volunteerism and community involvement

Kaycee has volunteered extensively within Canada’s film and media community. She has supported major industry organizations and events including the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, the Canadian Film Centre, the Canadian Media Producers Association, and Women in Film and Television Toronto, contributing to special events and initiatives that strengthen Canada’s creative sector and support emerging filmmakers. After relocating to Kingston, Kaycee continued her commitment to community service at the local level. A lifelong animal lover, she volunteered with the Kingston Humane Society, supporting efforts to care for animals and promote adoption within the community.

Kaycee has also dedicated significant time to advancing cultural understanding and representation. For seven years, she served as Cultural Convener for the Chinese Canadian Association of Kingston and District, where she helped organize cultural programming and community events that fostered connection, representation, and cultural awareness. Her work in this role contributed to strengthening the visibility and well-being of people of Chinese and Asian heritage within the region.

Her passion for the arts and youth development is also reflected in her service on the Board of Directors for the Kingston School of Dance, where she supports initiatives that promote arts education and accessibility for young people. Additionally, Kaycee contributed her professional expertise as Marketing Advisor for TEDxQueensU, helping support the growth and visibility of an event that brings innovative ideas and community dialogue to the Kingston region.

Through her volunteer work and community engagement, Kaycee has consistently used her skills, time, and leadership to support others, strengthen cultural communities, and create opportunities within the arts and media sectors. Her dedication to service is an integral part of her identity and a meaningful reflection of her commitment to making a positive impact wherever she lives and works.
