Tyra Clarke

Child and Youth Worker, Class of 2018

Following the footsteps of her older brother, Tyra Clarke chose a path rooted in care, advocacy and service to young people when she enrolled in the Child and Youth Worker program.

Since her graduation in 2018, Tyra’s career has taken her through several impactful roles, including positions with the Metis Nation of Ontario, Alderville First Nation, and Indigenous Services Canada. Working with families, children and youth who are navigating complex and often difficult circumstances Tyra has consistently shown up as a safe, stable, advocate and trustworthy adult in the lives of young people who need it most.

Tyra truly lives up to her name: Sweetgrass Medicine Woman. Sweetgrass represents kindness, healing, and connection - qualities that Tyra embodies naturally. Her presence makes others feel seen, valued, and capable of contributing something meaningful to the world.

Tyra credits her decision to study at Centennial College as the catalyst for all the great things in her life. She truly loved the experience at Centennial, and she has continued to share that love with the people she comes into contact with. The skills and attributes that she learned and nurtured during her time at Centennial, have served her well in all her roles since her graduation and amplified the positive impact she brings to the communities she serves.
