Social Justice is a process, not an outcome, which seeks fair redistribution of resources, opportunities, and responsibilities, challenges the roots of oppression and injustice, empowers all people to exercise self-determination and realize their full potential and builds social solidarity and community capacity for collaborative action.
What Social Injustice looks like
- Economic: A person who is denied the opportunity to make money or are unfairly paid for the work that they do.
- Spiritual: When people are unable to practice their religion or spirituality because it is illegal or stigmatized.
- Violence: A person who lives with the threat of being attacked or receiving physical harm from another person.
- Education: When a person or group are denied education for any reason such, as race or gender.

What You Can Do

Research the issue
Regardless of the issue, understanding it thoroughly will make your voice more effective in standing up to injustice. Take time to understand various perspectives on an issue.

Learn about alternatives or actions to address the injustice
Start looking into alternatives to the way things are, and advocate for these changes.

Give up bad habits and beliefs
Make sure you're not contributing to the problem at hand. Unlearn habits and behaviours and understand this is an ongoing commitment.

Take action
Join social justice organizations, write letters to elected officials, organize as a community or use social media to take action.
