One of the best parts of travelling is getting to your hotel room after a long flight, inserting your room key and ooh’ing aww’ing at the perfection waiting inside. From luxurious oversized tubs and expansive balcony views to that hotel bed everyone loves falling into with its perfectly made soft sheets and fluffy pillows, the hotel experience is memorable.
That hotel experience is brought to you by experienced staff members from various teams including front desk agents, room agents, room attendants, hosts and servers. At Centennial College’s Hospitality Foundations program, students are learning both the core job skills required to work in the dynamic hospitality industry, as well as the language skills to communicate successfully with colleagues, employers and guests. They eventually move onto specialize in a specific diploma hospitality program.
If the jobs of these professionals fascinate you, so should the list below. Check out some of the most expensive hotel suites in the world, as of 2018.
Royal Penthouse Suite, President Wilson Hotel, Geneva ($80,000 USD per night): Forget everything you thought you knew about hotel suites. The Royal Penthouse Suite at the President Wilson Hotel not only spans the entire floor top floor of the hotel but also contains 12 bedrooms. When you enter the suite, by way of your private elevator, you are greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc as well as a wraparound panoramic terrace. Once you get past the views, you’ll discover that bedrooms have marble bathrooms with bath products by Hermès, and the two master bedrooms have walk-in dressing rooms and a marble bathroom with a jacuzzi facing the lake as well as a separate shower, steam and mirror TV. But, of course, for $80,000 a night, there better be some other perks. You have access to your own fitness room, a private chef and a chauffeur as well as the world’s largest TV screen, a grand piano, a pool table, and a collection of ancient books and art.
Five-Bedroom Terrace Suite, The Mark, New York ($75,000 USD per night): Located in the Upper East Side of New York is The Mark and its five-bedroom, 12,000-square foot suite that’s spread out over two floors and offers a 2,500-square foot roof terrace overlooking Central Park as well as skylighted pavilion. Beyond that, this suite is outfitted with two king bedrooms, two queen bedrooms and a full bedroom as well as five and a half bathrooms. The bathrooms are decked out in marble and Italian toiletries that were created exclusively for The Mark. Speaking of exclusivity, staying here also comes with access to a custom-designed kitchen, in case you like to cook. You can then serve the meal at the 24-seat dining room before retiring to the living room, complete with grand piano, of course.
Penthouse Suite, Hotel Martinez, Cannes ($53,200 USD per night): Have you visited south of France? This location is known for its lavishness so it’s no surprise that it’s home to the Penthouse Suite at Hotel Martinez, which is located on the seventh floor of the establishment and measures more than 10,000 square feet with a 2,906-square-foot private terrace that overlooks the Bay of Cannes and the famous Boulevard de la Croisette. Here you’ll find four bedrooms as well as a living room, dining room and marble bathroom. Of course, the perks don’t end there. There is also a personal butler service included in the price tag as well as the use of a hot tub and a hammam (Turkish bath).
How amazing would it be to stay at any of these locations? How about work there? Our Hospitality Foundations students will be prepared to work in the hospitality industry.
