I learned that having a work experience really makes you better understand all the concepts studied during the previous semesters. For this reason, I would suggest to choose a Co-op program because it is a great opportunity to learn the practical aspects of the job and to start working in the field. I decided to study and take Marketing Research and Analytics. What drove me to choose the program was my passion for marketing; I wanted to be able to better understand how a market operates and how we can use data from the public to our advantage. Currently I find myself doing a co-op placement at the Ministry of Education of Ontario, in the forecasting and modelling department. For me, classes of big data analysis, qualitative and quantitative research were the most important, because they taught the things that I was interested in the most as well as how to work together in a professional setting with a team. I was the team leader in all my projects and I learned how to coordinate with people who sometimes were in a different time zone altogether…I learned how to manage the time for my activities and the ones for my team mates and how to delegate tasks....

I originally wanted to become a HVAC technician and most of my work experience was in the hospitality industry. I want to eventually get my CPA and I noticed Centennial College offers many bridging programs with other Universities in Ontario, making it easier for me to get a degree. I currently work at the CRA as a GST/HST Appeals Officer. My experience from my first Co-op placement helped me land my second placement with the CRA because I worked with sensitive information with CollegePass Canada. It helped show [the employer] that I can be trusted and be discreet with sensitive information....

Back in 2020, I had my first work term. As I had no background or experience whatsoever, I was uncertain which job position would fit me the best. Therefore, I applied to every accounting position I could find. However, once I started the job, I realized it was not a right fit. Sivan – my Co-op Advisor – helped me in this regard. She gave me another option to start over again with a new Co-op Work term in 2021. She always answered my email promptly and offered solutions whenever I had concerns. In 2021, I applied to Thornhill Hub as an Admin Assistant, which mainly deal with data and using QuickBooks. I really enjoyed my work term with the employer and team, all of them were friendly and understanding. My manager was very welcoming and approachable, she helped me throughout the work term. At the end of our work term, my employer offered me full time employment. I am really glad that through co-op services, I was able to meet my goals and find the right job for me. ...
